Lijiang, a northwest city of Yunnan province. There are numerous attractions in Lijiang, such as Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Tiger Leaping Gorge and Mu Palace. I will introduce two of them which are the best time to be visited in Spring.
1.The Old Town: has been listed in the World Cultural Heritages by UNESCO in 1997. It has a history going back more than 800 years, and was once the center o f the city and continues to maintain the original flavor of the local lifestyle, the typical groups of buildings and the profound cultural heritage of the Naxi‘s (one of minorities)region.
GET IN
BY Plane: arriving at Lijiang Airport,
then take taxi (around £9) or take
coach (£2) to the Old Town.
BY Train: arriving at Lijiang Station, then take
NO.4 bus (£0.2) to the Old Town.
There is bonfire at around 7PM at the Si Fang Jie (Old Market Square). Many local folks dance there, and
tourists are welcomed to join.
Sakura Food Square, a open-air food market, where vendors sell appetising bite-size treats. Try the Naxi grilled eggplant served in a boat-shaped crust, Naxi potato pancake, and Naxi grilled, salty sausage.
2. Lugu Lake: mystery and charm surround the lake, and the Mosuo people living here still keep their matriarchal society system. “Very calm lake, the warm sunshine, the boundless forest, all over the sky star of the night sky, we live here for a week, feel life is too quiet here, one of the others planet in the galaxy.” said a tourist named Jing from South Carolina. DON’T MISS
Wucailige Hostel: the most famous hostel in the Lugu Lake area, around £30-40/ double room. (for further information, please visit http://www.wucailige.com/)
Here is Luoping, a county in the east of Yunnan province. It is famous for its beautiful scenery in Spring, when its fields of rapeseed flowers are in full bloom, surrounding the area’s mountains. The beauty of the yellow sea stretches all the way to the horizon, and blooming buds fill the air with the refreshing smell of spring. A good spot to view the rapeseed flower is Jinjifeng, as the landscape there is flat, punctuated by a few mounds of little hills. It is located only a few kilometers outside of town and is easily accessible by bus.
‘It had become a Mecca for photographers, who flock to this small county every early spring to capture the magnificent “sea of yellow” of blooming rapeseed flowers.’ (source from CHINABACKPACKER). Let’s enjoy dancing in the sea of golden flowers!
DON’T MISS:
Flower rice: an unique food made by local minority, and this colourful rice results from being dyed by natural plant, so it is healthy and delicious.
Sour bamboo shoot: different from others in other regions. It is sour and smells good–has light scent of plant. It is an excellent appetizer.
The food here is unique and delicious, and it is cost-effective! Generally, just about £0.3 for a hearty breakfast and £1-2 for a rich lunch/supper every person.
ACCOMMODATION:
From cheap £5 boarding houses to more expensive star-rated hotels (£15-50 for double room).
HOW TO GET THERE:
Arriving at Kunming, Yunnan first, then take train from Kunming to Luoping (about 3 hours and cost £2-4).
